You can call her the youngest news anchor in Uganda; Abigail Mulungi will completely blow your mind the first time you watch her! Over the years, we have seen Ugandan children get involved in different arts such as music and dance. However, non has been seen venturing into the wild streets of journalism. Abigail is breaking this record!
Who Is Abigail Mulungi?
Abigail is a popular Ugandan young girl who reads news on social media especially on TikTok. She gained her fame after parroting NTV Uganda news anchor, Priscilla Nalwoga. This triggered the news anchor to literally pay the 9 year old a surprise visit at their home in Kyanja. Mulungi was born on 15th September 2013 to Mr. and Mrs. Nsereko along with 3 brothers and sisters. She studied her lower primary at Grand Salai Nursery and Junior School in P3 Brilliant.
How Did Abigail Gain Her Passion For News Anchoring?
Abigail told Edge Times that she found herself turning on the TV every time it clocked time for news. She then eventually told her Dad that she wants to become a news anchor. It’s evident he has done his best as the little girl has excellent camera-eye contact when she’s reading the news. Additionally, her passion is fueled by the motivation from her classmates. “My class mates say I’m doing a great job and when I feel down, they encourage me to keep going!”, said Abigail Mulungi in a video interview with Kampala Edge Times. Well, it looks like this motivation has not gone to waste as she hit 100,000 followers on TikTok in October.
Abigail says that her other talent is the ability to dance. Actually, she calls herself a great dancer. Secondly, she can sing and her favorite song is “The Lord Bless You”. And the last but not least skill is her ability to read the Bible. Yes, not every girl in P3 can actually read a Bible, especially with the ancient English language. With that said, Abigail told us that her favorite memory verse is John 1:1-22 which she recites exactly as below:
She is a neutral person – As young as she is, Abigail possesses the true roots of a professional journalist. During our interview with her, she avoided taking sides on all questions we asked her. In fact, when we asked for her preferred future secondary school, Abigail said she simply wants one that will help her build her dream instead of naming a school.
She loves Gospel Music – Unlike most people after achieving popularity, Abigail says she specifically loves Gospel music. She however doesn’t segrgate whether it’s international or local; the articulate news reader will put on her dancing shoes!
Her Advice To Other Kids – Abigail advises young kids not to give up on their dreams, but instead ask their parents for support. She says that they can become like her or whatever they desire if only they believe.
She wanted to be an actress – Yes, she did, but that was before her admiration for news anchors kicked in when she was just 3 years old.
Abigail started her own TikTok account and managed to beat the algorithms despite her deviation from the regular video activities. TikTok is popular for dance and music, but Abigail came up with a whole new wave and now she’s monitored by top brands. What do you think about this amazing young lady?
