The long wait is over, Google has officially released Android 12, and here is everything you need to know about the grand update.
Oct. 5th, 2021
Yesterday, the 4th of October 2021, Google rolled out Android 12 to open source aka AOSP but did not launch any devices, including Pixel phones. This means that the operating system can now legally be accessed by all phone manufacturers like Tecno, Infinix, Samsung, and Xiaomi to be used in their handsets.
In this article, you’re going to read about the new amazing features in the Android update as well as when to expect it in your phone.
According to a multimillion-dollar company, Google, over 225,000 people tested Android 12 throughout the developer previews and betas since the start of 2021.
In terms of “Performance,” Google says it has “reduced the CPU time used by core system services by 22% and the use of big cores by 15%.” That translates directly to less lagging in performance and instead more snappiness.
More like Apple’s iOS, Android 12 promises improved app startup times and optimized I/O for faster app loading, and database queries.
“We’ve improved Cursor Window by as much as 49x for large windows. More responsive notifications” are achieved by restricting notification trampolines, with Google Photos launching 34% faster after this change.”, said Google’s official developer article. Other changes include Optimized foreground services, Performance classes for devices, and Faster machine learning.
In terms of design, Android 12 has been designed to match exactly what a user wants by making the whole system take colors from one’s wallpaper. It’s very eye-friendly thanks to the huge bubbles and gently contrasting texts combined with the dark mode which was launched in Android 10.
We shall keep following this story up even until the Pixel devices are released.
