During the FA Cup third round, Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United faced each other at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 12th January 2025.

What Went Wrong for Manchester United?

Amidst the game, Diogo Dalot received a second yellow card, which automatically resulted in a red card in the 61st minute, reducing Manchester United to 10 men. By that time, the game was 1-0 in favor of Manchester United. In the 63rd minute, the Gunners equalized, leveling the score at 1-1. However, it didn’t end there; an Arsenal player was fouled in Manchester United’s penalty box, leading to a penalty being awarded to the Gunners.

Manchester United successfully converted all their penalties, with Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Leny Toro, Lisandro Martínez, and Joshua Zirkzee stepping up to score. Arsenal, on the other hand, converted only three penalties through Martin Ødegaard, Thomas Partey, and Declan Rice. However, Kai Havertz’s shot was saved by Altay Bayındır, securing Manchester United’s victory.
