Who are Baraka Performers?
Baraka Performers, led by Martin Male saw its inception in 2017. It is a whole force for transformation in the lives of vulnerable children and youth aged 7 and up. Our goal? To provide a platform where these young individuals thrive academically. However, we also explore their talents in music, dance, drama, and more. Meanwhile, they are learning essential life skills along the way.
How did Baraka Performers get their name?
Named after the Kiswahili word for ‘blessings,’ Baraka reaches out to those facing adversity, including orphans and children from unstable homes. Our aim is simple: to be a blessing in their lives, empowering them to rise above their challenges and become positive influences in their own communities.
Are you a Christian group?
With strong roots in Christian values, Baraka Performers isn’t just about nurturing talent—it’s about instilling a sense of moral responsibility and fostering a love for both God and others. But our impact doesn’t stop there. We’re also passionate about showcasing Uganda’s rich cultural heritage on a global stage, promoting tourism through music, dance, and traditional performances.
They were given a unique opportunity to perform in the Disney concerts courtesy of The Lion King in the Disney castle production.
Now, they are celebrated and have found purpose through their organization’s belief that passion meets purpose.
What is the Vision and Mission of Baraka Performers
Our vision is clear: we aspire to be a beacon of hope, empowering vulnerable children, youth, and families to become agents of positive change in their own right. And our mission? It’s simple yet powerful: to use the universal language of music to uplift, inspire, and transform lives, breaking the cycle of poverty and nurturing a spirit of giving back.
