Born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, Burna Boy has risen to become one of Africa’s most celebrated artists, earning the moniker “African Giant” through his groundbreaking contributions to the Afrobeats genre. His last performance in Kenya, back in 2017, left a mixed legacy marred by scheduling hiccups that frustrated some fans but his star power has only grown since then. Now, eight years later, he’s returning with a full entourage, including his renowned band, The Outsiders, and a promise to deliver a show that will set a new benchmark for live performances in the region
The March 1 concert marks a significant moment for Nairobi’s entertainment scene. Originally slated for December 30, 2024, at the Nairobi Polo Club, the event was rescheduled to ensure a flawless experience, reflecting the organizers’ commitment to quality. Madfun, the production company behind the event, has partnered with AudioStems to handle logistics, from stage setup to sound coordination, ensuring that fans get the full Burna Boy experience—complete with dynamic arrangements, live horn sections, and pulsating drum beats.

How much will ticket for this show cost?
Tickets for the MadfunXperience have been selling fast, with prices catering to a range of budgets. Early bird regular tickets started at KSh 4,000, while advance tickets are priced at KSh 8,000. VIP passes go for KSh 25,000, and the VVIP experience tops out at KSh 65,000, offering fans a premium view of the action. The Tribe Hotel, where Burna Boy and his team will be staying, is also rolling out special accommodation packages for international attendees, adding a touch of luxury to the concert weekend.
Security is a top priority, especially given past challenges at large-scale events in Nairobi. Lang’ata Sub-County Police Commander Monica Kimani has assured concertgoers that comprehensive measures will be in place, covering the venue, surrounding hotels, and traffic routes. Uber is also partnering with the event, offering discounted rates with a special code for attendees, making transportation to and from Uhuru Gardens seamless.

What Fans Should Expect At Madfunxperience
This time, Burna is bringing his entire 40-plus-member band, The Outsiders, along with their stage equipment, ensuring that the live sound matches the polish of his studio recordings. The production scale is massive, with reports suggesting his performance fee for the Nairobi show could reach upwards of $1 million (approximately KSh 129 million) a stark contrast to the KSh 5-6 million he reportedly earned for his 2017 gig in Kenya.
