If you were alive between 2000 and 2015 in Uganda, you must’ve heard about Desire Luzinda. Being a household name in the entertainment industry in the mentioned period, one needed to be dead not to know the famous singer. She is considered one of the most beautiful Ugandan musicians and probably one of the most successful ones. We managed to catch up with the aesthetic present day Gospel musician to find out how she happened to switch from secular music and here is everything we discovered.
Who Is Desire Luzinda?
Desire Luzinda prays at Phaneroo Ministries International under Apostle Grace Lubega. She recognizes herself as a woman of God, a worshipper and mother of nations with one daughter, Michelle Heather. According to Desire, she perceives herself as a bold but calm person who is passionate about charity. She is also the founder of Desire Luzinda foundation which she says is founded on divine instruction. “I am called to be a beacon of hope to the orphaned and underprivileged children,” says Desire, “and rehabilitate youth that have been blown by the winds of life.”
How Did Luzinda switch from secular to Gospel music?
Desire told Edge Times that switching from secular to Christian music was the toughest transition. She says, “The decision was easier, but the transition was tougher. The reason being; one being able to decide, but not understanding the weight that comes with the chosen path.” She also said that the only thing that kept /keeps her going is/was the WORD of God. “The WORD helped me (even to this day),” says Desire, “build the inner me to keep hopeful for something better that I couldn’t get in the secular world.”
The former “Ekitone” singer quotes Hebrews 12:2 which says, “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” In explanation, she said that when you look to Jesus, your faith is built up. Additionally, if He endured the Cross, there is nothing believers cannot endure with Him in the inside of them. We asked her what she misses about her childhood, but she said she doesn’t know it.
How Did Phaneroo And Levixone Lead Her To Christ?
“I knew God before I went to phaneroo,” says Desire, “However, Phaneroo transformed me with the WORD. Levixone, on the other hand represents HOPE in my life. He was the first person to tell me I am a great woman and I didn’t know who I was. Indeed he was right, because this is many years ago when I was transitioning. It’s astonishing someone telling you such a powerful statement not once or twice, but always! He told me I was gonna change the world and till date, his tone still echoes in my ears.”

On confrontation, she revealed that she doesn’t just love staying abroad, but rather has purpose which will make sense to the world some day. She left us bizarre about the exact reason, but we can only hope it makes sense soon as she promised.
