To facilitate this, President Donald Trump has announced plans to send Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to Ukraine for discussions with President Volodymyr Zelensky. The focus of these talks is to negotiate a deal granting the U.S. access to Ukraine’s substantial reserves of rare-earth minerals, such as lithium, titanium, and uranium, in exchange for continued American aid. This strategy aims to leverage Ukraine’s natural resources to strengthen bilateral ties and support Ukraine’s defense efforts.

In a related diplomatic effort, President Trump welcomed the release of American teacher Marc Fogel from Russian detention, viewing it as a positive gesture to support ongoing discussions aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.
