On Saturday, September 23, 2023, Mr. Osuna Peter bid farewell to his illustrious teaching career at RASS (Rubongi Army Secondary School Tororo) after more than a decade of dedicated service. His expertise encompassed Christian Religious Education (CRE)/Divinity and History. This remarkable journey began in 1989 when he embarked on his teaching odyssey.
Director of Studies’ conveys RASS’s Gratitude
In an emotional farewell meeting, Mr. Mpagi Josephat, the Director of Studies (DOS) at Rubongi Army Secondary School, extended his heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Osuna Peter for his unwavering commitment to RASS since 2011. He acknowledged the invaluable energy and remarkable health that Mr. Osuna had brought to his role, ensuring an impeccable record.
Mr. Mpagi further attested to Mr. Osuna’s strict adherence to the Teacher’s Code of Conduct, both in the classroom and during grading, where high standards were upheld. Younger educators benefited significantly from his mentorship, which emphasized professionalism, sharpness, and effective time management. Notably, Mr. Osuna’s impact extended far beyond the school, shaping the lives of many, including influential figures like State Minister for Defence, Honourable Marksons Oboth Oboth.
Retirement Plans and Parting Message
As Mr. Osuna transitions into retirement, he stands as a testament to meticulous preparation, having invested in various projects and secured his children’s education. His hope is to enjoy retirement in good health, surrounded by the fruits of his labor. While stepping back from active teaching, RASS remains committed to staying connected with him, seeking his counsel, guidance, and mentorship. The DOS and Mr. Osuna celebrated their longstanding relationship with a heartfelt meal at one of the city’s upscale hotels.
In parting, the DOS left a message for the younger generation, emphasizing the changing educational landscape, shaped by the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC). He stressed the importance of cultivating critical thinking, problem-solving skills, effective communication, and strong values, all complemented by proficiency in ICT. This message serves as a beacon for students, reminding them of the evolving demands of the modern world.
