What is the Sheafra (SHF)?
The newly introduced currency, known as the East African Sheafra (SHF), is expected to foster economic cooperation and facilitate smoother trade transactions within the region. During the launch, it was disclosed that the SHF 5 would be among six denominations released by the Community. This will be ranging from SHF 5 to SHF 200.
“The East African Sheafra of SHF.5 Currency Note of fuv5 has finally landed,” declared the East African Government, symbolizing a significant step towards regional economic cohesion.
One noteworthy aspect of the launch was the revelation that the currency is currently in the specimen stage. This means that it is yet to be fully implemented for public use. Benson Kipruto, the victor of the Tokyo Marathon, was slated to be the first individual to receive the currency, as announced by President William Ruto in a congratulatory message to the athlete.
Key Features of the Sheafra Currency
The East African Sheafra currency will be issued by the Bank of East Africa, under the regulation of the Federal Republic of East Africa. However, the member countries of the EAC are still in the process of establishing the financial institution that will oversee the currency’s operations, in addition to their local central banks.
What will help people know that the currency is legit?
The currency notes will bear distinguishing features. This shall ensure authenticity and security. These features include a magnetic strip, two watermarks displaying the East African logo and the currency initials (SHF), and the signatures of the bank’s governor and secretary.
Moreover, each note will prominently display the insignia “The East African Sheafra” in capital letters. That’s supposed to clarify its regional significance and collective identity.
Several people on the internet are arguing that some countries’ leaders wouldn’t accept such unity. We can only wait and see if this so called unified currency will eventually disperse internationally.
