How long has the Elgon festival existed?

It’s the second year, the Elgon Festival has firmly established itself as one of the region’s most prominent cultural events. Located at the foot of the majestic Mount Elgon, the festival offers a mesmerizing window into the heart and soul of the region, showcasing the unique traditions, artifacts, music, art, and culinary delights of the nine ethnicities surrounding the mountain from both Kenya and Uganda. These ethnicities include the Sapiiny (Kalenjin), Bagwere (Bagwe), Bamasaaba (Babukusu), Teso & Karimojong (Ateker & Turkana), Samia (Luhya nation), Japadhola (Luo), Banyole (Banyala), and Basoga.
