Uganda is celebrating the success of Favour Murungi, 14, who was crowned in a global contest in Dubai, Little Miss & Little Mister United World. On 4th November 2024, Kampala Edge Times accessed her as she returned to Entebbe Airport, and her Dad gladly received her. We sat down with her and asked Favour a few questions about her. This is everything she told us.
Who is Favour Murungi?
I am Favour Murungi Agamba, a 14-year-old with a shining voice, born on January 31, 2010. My parents are Mr. Agamba Vincent and Mrs. Tendo Miriam Agamba. I come from Entebbe District, and I am a proud Munyankole. I have three siblings, and I am a born-again Christian. I was awarded the title of Ambassador of United World 2024. The contestants were divided into different categories, such as ambassadors, models, and talents. In my category, Ambassador, I was the only contestant.
How was Agamba the Ambassador of United World 2024 selected?
The criteria for selecting the winner were based on eloquence, speech, and walk. As an ambassador, they evaluated how well I would represent my country and the planet. The competition began on October 27 and ended on November 1, with my crowning on October 31. The event took place in Dubai and included contestants aged 4 to 16. It was organized by Little Mr. and Miss United World 2024 and held at the Toda Theater.

How does it feel for Favour Murungi after winning?
After winning this competition, I feel incredibly overjoyed. When I was practising, I didn’t know I would be the only ambassador, so I felt a lot of pressure. But I believe God made a way, and I won miraculously. As a queen, I plan to become more involved with the planet, finding ways to promote eco-sustainability for socio-economic development. The toughest part of this competition was learning about the ecosystem and preparing to answer questions on the topic. It was challenging, knowing the reigning queens would be there to question why I deserved the crown. The most exciting moment was arriving in the UAE when I saw so many different people. Some of them were queens, and kings from many races and I felt overwhelmed with joy.
Who was your role model throughout this?
Throughout this journey, four main people motivated and mentored me. First, I want to thank my national director and manager, Mr. Paulson Niwagaba. He has guided me throughout. I’d also like to thank my designer and trainee, Ms. Kisakye, CEO of Sakye Becca Culture. I am grateful to my mom for her spiritual and mental support. I cannot forget about my dad, who always sent me encouraging messages throughout the competition. Even if he wasn’t physically present, I know he is always with me. Daddy always says, “Go on, you can do this!?”
What is Favour Murungi going to do after becoming Ambassador of United World 2024?
From achieving this title, my next step is to promote eco-sustainability, encouraging everyone to protect our ecosystem. I believe we are the next generation responsible for this planet, and if we don’t fight for it, who will? When we take care of the planet, it takes care of us.
I am a homeschooled student at Spring of Hope Home Educational Center. Right now (2024), I am in Grade Nine. My hobbies include singing, dancing, modelling, and poetry. All I can say is that I have always been led by the Holy Spirit. At a young age, I was motivated by the Miss Universe pageant, even before I could speak properly. Seeing those contestants was so intriguing and it sparked my interest. Just like that, it shaped my career path.
What do we need to know about Favour Murungi?
My dream destination is London. I don’t have a favourite dish because I find all food tasty. My role model is the Proverbs 31 woman in the Bible, and I aspire to be just like her. My favourite music genre is Hillsong Worship. Though I don’t have a specific favourite artist, if I had to choose, it would be Gospel singer, Forest Frank. My favourite school subject is English, and it’s also my best-spoken language followed by Luganda.
What is the most notable memory you have from Dubai?
As Little Miss United World Ambassador in Dubai, I had an amazing experience. I had the chance to learn about cultural diplomacy and leadership while proudly representing Uganda. I also got the chance to see with my naked eye beautiful buildings like the Burj Khalifa, and the Museum of the Future. and I also got to meet new friends from around the world in their unique national costumes. You just never know how diverse the world’s cultures are until you see for yourself.
