Rugby enthusiasts in Tororo and beyond have a reason to celebrate as Give Rugby Foundation (GRF), in partnership with Tororo Rugby and the Uganda Rugby Union, is set to host the biggest rugby games in Eastern Uganda. This thrilling event will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Elgon View Grounds, Tororo, starting at 12 PM.

Six teams will battle it out in various competitions, promising an unforgettable day for rugby fans. The Elgon Wolves will face the Pirates in a high-stakes clash. The winner of this match will secure a better ranking in the championship quarterfinals. Tororo Crests will go head-to-head with Bungoma RFC for the prestigious GRF Elgon Shield Cup. Additionally, Kakira Simba’s RFC will challenge Bungoma RFC for the Uganda LUO 15s Cup.
Give Rugby Foundation Promoting Rugby in Eastern Uganda
This event is more than just a game; it is a significant step towards promoting rugby in the Bukedi Sub-region and Eastern Uganda. GRF’s collaboration with Tororo Rugby aims to create opportunities for young talents to showcase their skills. It also sets the stage for Tororo to host more teams from Western Kenya.

Preparing for Ball Games 2
This tournament serves as a stepping stone for bigger events. Tororo will host the USSSA Ball Games 2 during the second-term holidays at St. Peter’s College. The experience gained from Saturday’s matches will prepare players for future GRF activities and regional competitions.
The success of this event is due to the support of key sponsors. GRF is joined by Jibu Water Uganda Limited, Nile Special, and Tororo Municipal Council. Their contributions have made this rugby festival a reality, paving the way for rugby to thrive in the region.

Why Tororo?
Though Elgon Wolves are based in Mbale, GRF decided to host this event in Tororo. This decision aligns with the foundation’s goal of spreading rugby to new areas. The Wolves graciously agreed to switch their venue, making Tororo the hub of this momentous occasion.
