Last week saw Uganda and the World send off the late Speaker Hon Jacob Oulanyah on Friday 8th April 2022.
The former Speaker died on March 20th 2022 due to cancer that caused “multiple organ failure” as revealed by Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng.
Remembering Oulanyah.
His Excellency the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni declared the burial day as a public holiday. More actions are being undertaken in remembering the late Speaker.
Gulu University is working on plans to award a Posthumous Honorary Doctorate of Law to the former Speaker of Parliament. This will be in appreciation and recognition of his work and service in the field of law.
This was revealed by Joyce Morito Kaducu,the State Minister for Primary Education last week on Thursday during meeting. This announcement was sweet music to the local council governments from Acholi ,Lango and West Nile sub-regions as the son of the soil is paid tribute to.
Professor George Openyjuru Ladaah,the Vice Chancellor Gulu University went ahead to reveal more plans. Plans of the University naming a block at the Faculty of Law after the late Speaker.
The Jacob Oulanyah Trust Fund…
It is understood that Jacob Oulanyah had a number of people under his care such as certain students whom he was helping in paying their school fees. These now stare at a future of uncertainty unless something is done now .
The Chief Justice Alfred Owiny Dollo announced a week earlier of Jacob Oulanyah Education Trust Fund.A number of Members of Parliament (MPs) pledged to contribute each 1 million towards this fund.
