The Chainsmokers have finally released their first single “High” off their upcoming studio album dubbed #TCS4 and they have surely kept us on our toes since the start of 2022. Now, according to The Chainsmokers themselves, this is the very best video they have ever worked on in all their band career, and it’s clear considering the quality of output. Unlike as previously expected, the song seems to have eliminated The Kid LAROI’s vocals and instead replaced them with Drew Taggart’s strikingly resembling voice and still got the song to sound extremely awesome. There is no formal reason for removing The Kid LAROI from the song, but definitely could be because of managerial issues and creative differences.
The video starts while we hear Drew say, “So far so good”, probably telling the fans that he’s got something worth the wait, then we notice him falling down from a cloudy sky as the beats prepare a massive ground for his vocals. Eventually, Drew landed very hard on a huge airplane’s wing and we realize he’s standing in the risky place facing a girl he is probably dying for. Drew is later noticed by Alex who’s inside the plane and immediately calls the plane waitress to tell her about the strange incident. Everyone else in the flight seems uninterested as we see a young lad take on his headsets. This probably implies that nobody really cares about you, except the few people who have known you. The girl Drew is chasing seems to be a psycho as we see her run to the edge of the plane’s wing and next thing is we see her standing on the edge of a frighteningly tall tower as The Chainsmokers are standing on a very tall building site moving cranes. This scene implies how the people we love make us do the riskiest things, evening threatening our own lives, while they just have fun the whole time.
In the next scene, Drew jumps off the crane while Alex is mesmerized at how far his friend is willing to go for this dangerous girl; if you read his lips, you notice him say something like “WTF”, but they find themselves inside a plane again. Alex’s mouth is taped (probably by the girl) and we see her running away, but Drew first untaped Alex before he follows her. He follows her until she throws herself off a broken tall building and he dives to save her. At this point, we experience a slow-motion superman-like scene, but it ends with Drew on rocky ground and he seems to be in pain and exhaustion. This ending teaches us that, if you think you can do everything to win someone’s heart, you might actually sacrifice your own life as well. Now, it’s up to you to know whether this is a win-win situation or just a waste of time!

In conclusion, this video is really beautiful and I recommend it to all kinds of people because for a moment it feels like an Avengers movie or something more real.
