Where did fashion start from?
Fashion is a term used interchangeably to describe the creation of clothing, footwear, accessories, cosmetics, and jewelry of different cultural aesthetics and their mix and match into outfits that depict distinctive ways of dressing (styles and trends) as signifiers of social status, self-expression, and group belonging. As a multifaceted term, fashion describes an industry, styles, aesthetics, and trends. We confuse styling and fashion; however, fashion holds a bigger weight. It carries on cloth, hair, jewelry, houses, interior design, etc. It is influenced by musicians, artists, cinemas, movies, and highly recognized celebrities.

However, it is noted that fashion came all the way from Rome, moved to Moorish Spain, and then the Turks claimed the trends, which date back to the 16th century. Fashion then was influenced by factors such as earnings, age, social status, culture, and beliefs. Later on, other nations like India, Persia, Turkey, China, Africa at large, etc., adopted the norm.
However, in my thinking, fashion is dated way back to Genesis (God’s creation). We look at how He fashioned all things we live with and he placed the sense of design for us to create and make to beautify the world he placed us in, which we have.
Who are the best fashion experts in history?
This includes both men and women who have created fashion trends from way back and keep evolving. Their breakthroughs have made us love and enjoy fashion. These include Claire McCardell (1950), Christian Dior (1940), Gabrielle Coco Chanel (1920), Elsa Schiaparelli (1930), Yves Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, and many more.
Barbie Doll and Fashion
Is the Barbie doll related to fashion?
Yes, it is. As a child, I grew up around dolls. They were always dressed up. The Barbie doll was the most common doll every girl had. Each packaging came with a comb, an extra pair of shoes, and extra cloth, and you could switch up the looks. This, in a way, helped young girls become creative because you keep on switching the outfits to create a new look on your doll. Therefore, the Barbie doll in different shades, hairstyles, and clothing is related to fashion.
History of African Fashion
Talk about the history of African fashion
The brief history of African fashion dates back to the early civilization of African people, who used natural materials derived from their environment to create clothing. Along the way, western influence did take over our beautiful unique designs, and we had somehow lost our way. Opulent designs and colors are emblematic characteristics of African fashion. However, our early types of clothing were bark cloth, furs, skins, and hides, with different designs and paintings based on the part of Africa one came from. Sadly, African fashion is simplified to leopard skin and mud cloth, yet it is way beyond that. Africa has a vast pick of fashion materials and jewelry. Fortunately, in the past years, our trends have received global recognition and embrace. Most of the top celebrated designers and icons are taking it as part of their lifestyle because it is unique and beautiful.
Best African Fashion Outfits
What are some of the best African fashion outfits?
Africa is vast, and therefore many cultures have outfits that they put forward to show off their beauty and confidence. However, to me, these are the best African outfits: kitenge, Dashikis, Ankara, kaftans, Kente cloth, Jellabiyo, modern Aso Ebi style, Amashoba (Zulu culture), Isiphephetu or Isigolwani (Xhosa), and the Gomesi.
Pageantry and the Fashion Industry
What is the contribution of pageantry to the fashion industry?
Pageantry is about the expression of natural beauty with brains. Many pageants are running around the world. Personally, I have been in two so far. It’s a long road to glory. However, with the presence of pageantry, fashion does bloom. This is because the requirements to being part of a pageant include buying magnificent gowns and doing beautiful hair, nails, and makeup. Every man or woman participating would love to showcase the best and get from prominent designers. Looking at activities that take place in the pageantry line is creative wear. This calls for the participants to bring out their creativity in the different themes present and therefore employ designers to help them out. This still calls for the exhibition of fashion, hence a positive contribution to the industry.
Evolution of Nudity Over Time
Why do people become more nude over time?
The phase of nudity, to me, is about people expressing body confidence. So, they feel comfortable in showing off their naturally made self, and we have to respect it.

It is a must for fashion enthusiasts and hosts the London Fashion Week, which brings in a number of fashion designers and models. They have two schools well known for giving birth to the best designers in the world, which are the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

Why Fashion Should Bother Africans
Fashion is the center of all life, it helps you grow, helps you express yourself. It is for everyone, and therefore there is no racism in fashion. All I want to see is Africa grow stronger in the fashion industry too and leave a mark on the rest of the world.
