Who is Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal ?
Hon Cecilia Atim Ogwal, a remarkable Ugandan politician and businesswoman born on June 12, 1946, in Dokolo. Serving as a dedicated member of parliament for Dokolo District, Cecilia has been actively involved in politics since 1970. Notably, she has consistently been a member of the legislative council since 1996. Her commitment to public service shines brightly through the years
Hon Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal was able to compete for the title of Miss Uganda at the age of 23 in 1969. However, she lost the title to a western Uganda lady from Fort Portal. The Dokolo Member of Parliament said that the winner was able to win due to her wide smiles and she could kneel while serving guests. Hon Cecilia Barbara says though beauty pageant was won by a finalist from Fort Portal, the media is always calls her former miss Uganda and that has never been clarified.

About Hon Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal’s Education
Hon Cecilia Ogwal, much like her fellow Ugandans, received her education from local schools. However, her academic journey took an exciting turn when she gained admission to the University of East Africa in Nairobi, now the University of Nairobi. At the age of 21 in 1967, she embarked on a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, proudly graduating in 1970.
In addition to her academic achievements, Hon Cecilia holds certificates from various institutions. She earned a certificate in Christian Based Values from the Haggai Institute in Singapore, and another in Public Private Partnership from an institution in Australia, showcasing her diverse and well-rounded expertise.
The Passing of Hon Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal: When Did It Occur?
On January 18, 2023, the announcement of the passing of the esteemed Honourable Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal saddened many. Mp Barbara Atim Ogwal passed away while getting her medical treatment from India. Her impactful legacy as a defense contractor and management consultant, coupled with her influential role in representing Dokolo District Women’s Constituency, made her a powerful figure in the country. May her contributions be remembered and her legacy honored.
