On Tuesday 8th March 2022 World wide celebrations were carried out to mark the International Women’s Day. A day that is set a side to appreciate and hold Women in high esteem as well as pushing for equality and inclusion of Women in all Social aspects of Life.
In Rubongi Army Secondary School that is located in Rubongi Army Barracks, Rubongi sub county, Tororo District. The school held the Women’s Day Celebrations that were carried out co-currently with welcoming of New Students, Prefects Hand over party as well as recieving the newly passed out Patriotism Students of Senior One and Senior Five .

However, the main occasion was celebrating Women’s Day. The various speeches and activities that included performances in form of songs,mimes,skit and dances all geared towards sensitization and reinforcement of the importance of the day. A day to spread awareness and cut the gap by preaching equality.
In fact the International Women’s Day theme “Together, we can all break the bias – on International Women’s Day (IWD) and beyond” was the cornerstone that anchored all that was said and done at the event held at Rubongi Army Secondary school.Empahsis on ending the bias of the preference by parents of educating boys only and leave girls aside.

Addressing the Students, Rubongi Army Secondary school Head Teacher Maj. Zaina K. Nalukenge encouraged the young girls to read hard, keep themselves for the future. The Head Teacher expressed the fact that she would wish to Handover to one of the girls come that time when she retires.
In an act of giving tangible evidence of her speech, the Head Teacher also mentioned prominent Women in vital Government position as role models to the students such as Uganda having a Vice President, Prime minister , Deputy Speaker and many others who are all women.

Rubongi Army Secondary school is one of the fastest growing schools in Tororo District with regards to population. The school boosts a population of over 2,000 students and according to the Deputy Head Teacher In charge of Academics, Mr Ondulusi Joseph, more students are still being admitted.
