Ikon Awards 2024 Is All Set For Massive Event
The anticipation is palpable as the second edition of the prestigious Ikon Awards gears up. We caught up with Humphrey Kyamba, one of the organizers and he shared with us a few highlights even though he has been very busy the past 3 days. With an array of enhancements and additions, this year’s event is expected to surpass the success of its inaugural edition. Ikon Awards are designed to celebrate creatives and actors in the Ugandan film industry by awarding them with notable accolades.
When was the first Ikon Awards Event?
Originating last year (2023) in March, the Ikon Awards made a stellar debut This laid the foundation for what has become a highly anticipated annual event. According to Humphrey, the organizers have pulled out all the stops to ensure that the second edition is even more remarkable in every aspect.
What time is Ikon Awards 2024?
The event is scheduled to take place from 5PM EAT on March 23rd, 2024, at the Kampala Serena Hotel. Humphrey told Kampala ET that this year’s event is dedicated to honoring the nominees of the Ikon Awards and inviting creatives from the film and television industry to join in the celebration of excellence.
The Ikon Forum, a cornerstone of the event, has undergone significant improvements. This way, it has offered a platform for industry experts, filmmakers, and aspiring talent to engage in meaningful discussions and exchange valuable insights. Noteworthy additions include masterclasses tailored to mentor young filmmakers through the Ikon Fellowship Program.
Is Iheme Osita now in Uganda?
Hailing from Nigeria, distinguished guests including scriptwriters, producers, professional actors, and industry luminaries will grace the occasion. By 22nd April 2024, the Nigerian superstars has arrived with Iheme Osita aka Popo stealing the show the most. These include Osita Iheme, Ramsey Noah, Nancy Isime, Chris Odeh, and Uche Ateli vying for top honors in their respective fields. Additionally, new categories such as The Ikon Rising Star and The African Star have been introduced.
What categories will be awarded?
Among the highly anticipated categories are Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Actress in Leading and Supporting Roles, Best Screenplay, Best Sound, Best Editor, and many more.
Anita Fabiola and Ronnie McVey have been announced as the official hosts for the evening, ensuring that the proceedings are as captivating as they are memorable. Kembabazi Sharma from Sauti Plus Media Hub will also be present to capture the essence of the event.
What to expect at Ikon Awards 2024
Humphrey told Edge Times, “Attendees can expect nothing short of an extraordinary experience. Expect a meticulously curated program that includes dazzling performances, elegant décor, and top-tier recognition of the industry’s finest talents. As the countdown begins, anticipation is rife for what promises to be an evening of unparalleled class, celebration, and recognition at the Ikon Awards 2024.”

Out of 203 compelling submissions, the official list of nominations for the 2024 iKon Awards has finally been unveiled. The second edition of the awards is slated for 23rd March 2024 and will aim to honor and celebrate exceptional people and entities in the Ugandan cinema and television industries while providing a forum for constructive change.
Voting for this year’s awards will be conducted online by last year’s winners who make the Ikon Awards Academy.
