The Iwacu Heza festival went down on 27th November 2022 at Hilltop Naguru. There was a pompous evening of vibes as Bafumbira, Banyarwanda and Banyakigezi partied their hearts out. This was the fifth edition of the Festival which came with several performances. Some of the performers included Ingyenzi Troupe, Slenda Mc, Jaja Lee and Afrique from Rwanda of the famous Agatunda song. The event is a youthful festival that aims to celebrate the Bafumbira, Banyarwanda and Barundi cultural heritage & promoting young talent.
Why Iwacu Heza Festival Happened?
According to Niyimpa Edgar, the organizer, Iwacu Heza Festival brings together Bafumbira, Banyakigezi and Banyarwanda. This helps the groups unveil their identity and tap into their uniqueness, passion and energy. It is mostly expressed through the exquisite event experiences, among others. It made lots of people wear beautiful smiles even in these hard times as we saw multiple vehicles and outfits.

What Are The Key Factors About the 2022 Edition?
Firstly, there were no specific key note speaker. Secondly, Iwacu Heza festival was very successful with upto 2000 attendants on the Naguru hill. What activities took place? You may ask! The Bafumbira show was graced by Gusakuza, kwivuga, playing inanga and Traditional dances. The peak highlights were during traditional performances, Afrique, the pilsner experience, extra ordinary music by the Djs and a lot more. We could spend all night exhausting the activities that went down.
When do we expect the Iwacu Heza festival to happen again?
June 2023, according to Mr Niyimpa. He also left us some final notes when he said Bafumbira world pushes the identity, empowerment and charity agenda. He added that this festival is one of the vehicles to achieving the above strategic objectives. By people attending, they have indirectly contributed to the betterment of the community.
