Jeldin Maryam Wengi is a model under Eiffel Models Ug, a dancer, and storyteller who was born on October 31, 2011. She is currently a student in elementary school who loves math and computer subjects. Her aunt was the first to notice her talent for modelling and storytelling. Jeldin is the firstborn of her father, Mwinyimuku Rajab Wengi, and she is from the greater-Kitara kingdom. She lives in Kazo, a suburb of Kampala, with her aunt Janet, aunt Jireh, uncle Asa, and uncle Isa, who all support her training and development. She gives credit to her grandmother, Ms Molly Kabagarama Ateenyi, who is a midwife with a private practice Njeru clinic, for providing a safe haven in her upbringing.
How Did Jeldin Maryam Wengi Begin Her Modelling Career?
Jeldin’s modelling career began at the age of nine when she signed up with Eiffel models Ug. She participated in the Upendo fashion show and later had her own first fashion show called “fancy kids” with the aim of giving back to the people of Karamoja. Jeldin Maryam Wengiwas officially unveiled to the industry in October and participated in little Miss Universe where she was crowned career queen, participated in little miss Uganda in December and was crowned talent queen. She is a confident public speaker, a high fashion commercial model, and a great dancer.
What Made her Interested In Storytelling?
Jeldin’s passion for storytelling was sparked by her inquisitive nature and her desire to know more and to be heard. She loves making people happy and relaxed with her stories and poetry. That’s because she believes tells the truth as it is with absolute confidence. Covid lockdown was a breakthrough for Jeldin as she recited her very first monologue. Jeldin Maryam Wengi is currently working on improving her writing, which will revolve mostly around children’s rights. She intends to publish a book by the end of her reign as Talent queen.
Challenges Jeldin Maryam Wengi Is Facing And Her Achievements
Jeldin’s biggest challenge in the industry has been getting support from senior colleagues, especially in terms of advice and audience. She is currently associated with the Eiffel models Ug as a flagship brand and is also working with Mama FM, Faam Club, and Little Miss Uganda after being awarded the title of Talent Queen. She loves swimming, ballet dancing, modelling, singing, acting, watching television, poetry, and playing the piano.
On to the bright side! Jeldin’s biggest achievement was winning Miss Talent in Little Miss Uganda 2022/23. This has helped her think and focus more on her sustainable development goals, such as fighting for children’s rights. Jeldin Maryam Wengi intends to do this through her personal project scheme, the Wengi Foundation “My Voice Matters”. This intelligent youngster intends to do that through public speech, poetry, and charity. When asked about working with Eiffel Models Ug, Jeldin described the company as fabulous to work with. She advises young people to cultivate their talents and pursue their dreams because they are unique, fabulous, and valid. Jeldin Maryam Wengi urges parents and guardians to support their children’s talents instead of condemning them. Jeldin believes that success favours the prepared. She adds that nothing glorious comes from a comfort zone, so young people should be ready to put in the effort.
