Who Is Jerry Fisayo-Bambi?
Jerry Fisayo-Bambi is a professional journalist who currently is both the producer and presenter of “Inspire Africa”. Inspire Africa is a TV program that features stories of innovation, changes, and their impact on Africa. Previously, he co-hosted the breakfast news program “The Morning Call” on Africa News, a television news program on politics, culture, education, science, sports, and business. Through this position, Jerry has interviewed government leaders like the former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Britain’s role in Nigeria’s fight against Terrorism. He also hosts people from the public and private sectors in business and policy-making in Africa. Notably, he was a speaker at a conference at the African Summit.
How Did Jerry Fisayo-Bambi Gain Fame?
Initially, Jerry gained recognition amongst TV viewers in Africa whilst he co-hosted a breakfast news program “The Morning Call” on Africanews. “The morning call” shot so high to stardom to an average audience of 7 million viewers daily across both Francophone and Anglophone countries in Africa. As a one-hour live news broadcast, the program touched on a variety of news topics on politics, culture, education, sciTech, sports, and business. Another fact justifying his popularity is that the journalist is known for high-profile interviews with leaders across the government. He also hosts the public and private sectors, business, and policy-making entities. Jerry is an active speaker, moderator, and partaker in conferences around the world.
How He Began His Journalism Career
Jerry started his journalism career in Nigeria with Cool FM and Nigeria Info 99.3 radio stations. Eventually, the hardworking gentleman served in various capacities for several leading media houses in the west African nation. They included The Bisi Olatilo Show, (Bisconworld TV), Business TV, and ONTV, part of Group 8. In 2013, his sweat started paying as he became arguably the youngest TV news anchor in Nigeria to host a breakfast magazine. This recognition was thanks to “Nigeria Morning” and a business show “Broad Street” on the now defunct Business TV in Lagos.
Achievements And How Jerry Fisayo-Bambi Is Changing Lives
Jerry was shortlisted among candidates for the BBC Komla Dumor Award 2016. While that didn’t work so well, the senior news anchor was crowned with the Nigeria Achievers Awards 2020 TV personality of the year. By the date of writing this story, Jerry is a nominee for the 2023 fortyunder40 Africa awards. Even as a young leader in his field, Jerry Fisayo-Bambi has mentored and inspired some of the continent’s fast-rising journalists and emerging leaders.
The award-winning journalist is platforming innovators and changemakers across Africa on ‘Inspire Africa’, the show he presents on Africanews and Euronews. Conclusively, it’s safe to say that Jerry dared to dream! Amidst many challenges, he has continued to demonstrate what’s possible for those who choose not to give up on their aspiration and dream.
