Kakebe Technologies has successfully completed the Kakebe Tech Camp 2025. The Northern Uganda-centred tech hub has emerged as a transformative platform, equipping young people in Northern Uganda with essential digital skills. Spearheaded by Kakebe Technologies under Sedrick Otolo, this is the third camp of its kind hosted in Lira City. The Kakebe Tech Camp 2025 brought together over 240 participants, to unlock their potential to reshape the technological landscape of the region.
Why does the Kakebe Tech Camp 2025 focus on Northern Uganda?
We asked the Kakebe Technologies team why the Kakebe Tech Camp 2025 is happening only in Lira, and this is what he told us.
Historically, Uganda’s technology programs and government initiatives have predominantly centered around Kampala, leaving other regions underserved. Recognizing this disparity, Kakebe Tech Camp aimed to decentralize access to digital skills, making them accessible to the youth of Northern Uganda. This strategic move positions the region to contribute significantly to Uganda’s growing tech industry while inspiring innovation among local communities.
SEDRICK OTOLO, TEAM LEAD – KAKEBE TECHNOLOGIES
We really want to grow the Kakebe Tech Camp in such a way that it happens countrywide in different regions. For example, we can have it in Busoga, Buganda, Mbarara and so on such that we extend this wonderful opportunity to more people.
Emmanuel Ogwal – Camp Director

Overcoming Challenges and Delivering Excellence
Despite financial constraints, the team at Kakebe Technologies, led by the visionary camp leader, demonstrated resilience and resourcefulness. Operating on a tight budget and overcoming significant deficits, they delivered a seamless experience characterized by quality instruction, nutritious meals, and an environment conducive to learning and networking.
Participants left the camp not only with newfound skills but also with a profound sense of inspiration. Many pledged to return for future editions and lauded the camp for its professionalism and impact.
What are the effects of Kakebe Tech Camp 2025?
The success of the Lira camp has sparked interest from other regions, with calls for similar initiatives from four to five districts. This growing demand highlights the urgent need for partnerships to scale the program and bring its benefits to more young people across Uganda.
Kakebe Technologies envisions future camps that will further expand the reach of digital literacy, fostering innovation and transforming lives. However, the team acknowledges the need for financial and logistical support to sustain and grow the initiative.
A Transformative Beginning
The Kakebe Tech Camp has set a new benchmark for technology education in Uganda, shifting the focus from the nation’s capital to regions that have long been underserved. It is more than a camp—it is a movement to democratize digital knowledge and empower a new generation of Ugandans to be competitive in the global tech industry.
As the camp leader proudly concluded, “We are ready and welcoming to see anybody willing to partner with us in the next camp or any other regions. We are changing the scope of ICT in this region, and this is just the beginning.”
For Uganda’s youth, the future is bright—and increasingly digital.
