Kenya Airports Authority’s Statement on Fires at JKIA Land
Kenya Airports Authority issued a press statement saying;
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) announced that they were actively managing a fire incident affecting a section of the grassland surrounding Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on February 21, 2025. They stated that a coordinated response team, including the KAA Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting Service, the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), and the Nairobi County Fire Unit, was working diligently to contain the situation.
KAA assured the public that the fire was confined to non-operational grassland areas and had not impacted any critical infrastructure or operational zones of JKIA. They further emphasized that all airport activities, including flight schedules, passenger processing, and cargo handling, remained fully operational and unaffected.
