Mr. Mpagi Josephat
Because of the 21st-century skills necessary for survival in this era, including communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, risk-taking, and digital literacy, we must reconsider how education is structured.
Traditionally, informal education at home involved children learning through imitation, observation, peer influence, and without much order, supervision, or direction from parents.
Transitioning to a Formalized Education Approach for 21st-Century Learners
For 21st-century learners, families need to move from informal education to a more formalized approach by providing:6. Institutions and Direction: Formal educational settings and clear guidance ensure structured and purposeful learning.
Activities and Supervision: Organized activities with parental supervision keep children engaged and safe while promoting skill development.
Defined Times for Daily Activities: A structured schedule helps children manage their time effectively, fostering discipline and balanced development.
Encouragement and Guidance, Including Counseling Services: Support and professional counseling help children build self-confidence and resilience.
Guidance on Religious Practices, Grooming, Dressing Styles, Friends, and Peers: Providing direction in these areas helps children develop a strong moral foundation and social awareness.
Long-Term Benefits of Formalized Education and Parental Involvement
When these measures are implemented, 21st Century children will be less likely to engage in sports betting, drug abuse, unnecessary outings, laziness, excessive screen time, gambling, and other time-wasting activities. Parents must be present and responsible for their children. In the long run, this will cultivate a nation of honest, hardworking, and time-conscious citizens, ultimately leading to a corruption-free society.
