On Sunday 6th November Aston Villa convincingly won 3-1 in against United. The encounter left many wondering what the Carabao Fixture four days later would present.Well, Manchester United revenge against Aston Villa was beautifully taken in a 4-2 win at Old Trafford.
Speaking of the win ,one may think it was just a walk over.That is not the case, atleast for those who watched the game.Ollie Watkins put Aston Villa ahead in the second half.Immediately,some United fans thought it’s over. So far this season Man United has lost a number of games where the opponent scored first.
However, hope was regained in a twinkle of an eye when after just One minute French Striker Anthony Martial tapped in a beautifully taken cross from Bruno Fernandes. The uproar of the jubilant home fans erupted all over Old Trafford – hope regained.
How Manchester United exacted their revenge
Unai Emery , the new Aston Villa boss in a bid to get his second win, brought in new substitutes. The latter did the work required of them as Leon Bailey who had not been on the pitch for more than four minutes headed in Ashley Young’s cross . This fell on the foot of Diogo Dalot who couldn’t do anything to stop the ball from bursting into th e net.
As a result, Erik Ten Hag responded with his own substitution.Anthony Elanga , Christian Eriksen and Argentine teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho came on . With the score at 2-1 in favour of Aston Villa, something had to be done to avoid a home defeat in what was a last home game before breaking off for World Cup.
Marcus Rashford proved his worth to England and South Gate by scoring to make the tie 2-2 . Having provided a beautiful assist t Martial, Bruno Fernandes also came in with his own goal in the 78th minute.Scot Mctominay capped off the win with a goal in 90 +1 minutes.Both goals came from Garnacho’s assist.
What next for United?
Manchester United will face Burnley in the Fourth round the Carabao Cup and will fancy their chances of progressing further into the competition.Fulham is United’s next game away from home before all Leagues across the world are paused to allow players go for World Cup.
