Manchester United win FA Youth Cup
The bad omens of the senior team seemed to have followed the Man Utd youngsters when they suffered an early set back . Nottingham Forest Under 18s seeking to claim their first ever FA Youth Cup came from behind to have the game 1-1 at half time.
The packed Old Trafford Stadium with a record crowd of 67,492 watched on eagerly. The youngsters tussled it out tooth and nail. Second half saw Nottingham Forest enjoying lengthy spells of possessions and appeared to be managing the game expertly.
However, a defensive error saw newly crowned United’s Under 18 Player of the Year score a double to gift his team silverware. Seventeen year old Garnacho Alejandro was the hero of the day as Old Trafford saw silverware that has failed the senior team .
Ajax crowned Eredisivisie Champions
Meanwhile in Netherlands, Manchester United bound Erik Ten Hag led Ajax to their third Eredisivie title in a row. The Netherlands giants beat Heerenveen 5-0 in an emphatic last home match to be crowned Champions with one game to spare.
Despite being denied a league and cup double by second place PSV that won the Dutch Cup final on April 17, Ten Hag has finished his Ajax tenure on a high. Manchester United fans are anxious to see him replicate this at Old Trafford.
Juventus is beaten by Inter to take the Coppa Italia Cup
Inter Milan who are second in the Serie A table chasing Roma with two points overcame Juventus to win the Coppa Italia. This ended record 14-time Juventus’ hopes of a trophy this season – the first time that has happened since 2010-11.
Actually Inter Milan began on a good note.Scoring in the sixth minute through Barella.However, Juventus restored parity through Lobo Silva and Vlaholic strikes in the 50th and 52nd Minutes. All seemed set for Juventus to lift the trophy.
Unfortunately, a penalty in the 80th Minute made the tie 2-2.The game went into Added Extra Time where Inter Milan scored from two more penalties to seal the tie.Inter Milan had not reached the final of the competition since their previous triumph 11 years ago.
