The group, which comprises the children of late elder statesman of reggae music, Denroy Morgan, posted the announcement to social media this afternoon.
It is out of sincere love that we share that our beloved husband, father, son and brother and lead singer of Morgan Heritage, Peter Anthony Morgan, has ascended today, February 25. Jah come and save us from ourselves because love is the only way,” the statement said in part. Our family thanks you in advance for your overwhelming love and support and we as k for your continued prayers as we go through this process. We also ask that you please respect our privacy during this time of healing.

Morgan Heritage was a band comprising five siblings including Peetah Morgan. They emerged as a prominent force in the reggae scene. Born on July 11, 1977, in New York, Peter Anthony Morgan was a pivotal figure in the group’s success, contributing his soulful vocals and charismatic stage presence.

The journey of Morgan Heritage began in 1994. That was when Peetah Morgan, alongside his siblings Una Morgan, Roy ‘Gramps’ Morgan, Nakhamyah ‘Lukes’ Morgan, and Memmalatel ‘Mr Mojo’ Morgan, formed the ensemble. Their collective talent propelled them to global recognition. They had notable performances at festivals such as Reggae Sunsplash in Jamaica.
In 2005, Peter Morgan released his seventh studio album with the group titled Full Circle. It peaked at #15 on the Billboard Reggae chart, showcasing his versatility and enduring appeal.
However, it was their 2015 album Strictly Roots that marked a milestone in their career. This masterpiece earned them their first Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. This achievement solidified their status as icons in the genre. Additionally, it cemented Peetah Morgan’s place in music history.

April 2023, Morgan Heritage was in Uganda at the listeners’ party for the new 21-track album dubbed ‘The Homeland’ at Cielo Lounge, Kololo. They revealed that they featured Eddy Kenzo on two projects; ‘Long To Be Home‘ and ‘U Got To See The World‘. ‘Ready‘ a song that Morgan Heritage features Jose Chameleone also excited the crowd a little bit too much. The band also held a mega concert at Cricket Oval in 2017.
