Manchester United take on fierce and old-time rivals Liverpool FC in a friendly pre-season match. The match will take place at The Rajamangala National Stadium of Thailand on Tuesday July, 12, 2022 at 16:00 EST/EAT.
Both teams were warmly welcomed by their enthusiastic fans as they landed in Thailand. The joy of the people and football fans seeing their stars they have been watching only on television. It is going to be the first pre-season game for both teams.
However, concerns have been put forward about the quality of The Rajamangala National Stadium. It has been reported that “there was a lot of rain in Bangkok” and “there were a few dark patches – there was a lot of work going on outside the stadium.”
Although it is just a friendly game, the quality of the pitch has to measure up to the desired standards. With only three weeks to the resumption of English Premier League, one can not risk players having uncalled for injuries in such a pitch.
Liverpool jetted off for their pre-season after a successful job in the transfer market. The Reds managed to bring in highly rated Benefica Forward Darwin Nunez for a club record fee of $85 million. They also secured teenage prospects : Midfielder Fabio Carvalho and Right Back Calvin Ramsay from Fulham and Aberdeen respectively.
Liverpool Vs Manchester United Transfer Dealings
As if not enough, they cashed in on Sadio Mane as he was sold to the German giants Bayern Munich. Star player and last season’s joint Golden Boot winner Mohammed Salah was also tied to a new long term deal. The Reds basically have nothing much to worry about as far as transfer issues.
On the other hand, Manchester United still have a mammoth of work to do in the transfer market. Despite signing Left Back Tyrell Malacia from Feynoord, Man Utd has greatly lagged behind in the transfer market compared to it’s premier league rivals.
Consequently, Football pundits have attributed this lagging behind as one of the reasons as to why Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Old Trafford. The 37 year old Portuguese International still has 12 months to go on his Man Utd contract.
The prospect of United playing Europa League is another reason why the International Top Scorer of Men’s football wants to quit Old Trafford. His going away would be a very big blow to the Red Devils .
Apparently, the Red Devils are looking at bringing in Barcelona star Midfielder Frenkie De Jong. A verbal agreement is said to be taken with Christian Ericksen. Ajax duo defender Lisandro Martinez and Forward Antony are also under Erik Ten Hag’s radar.
