Rubongi Army Secondary School (RASS) held their much-anticipated prom party on Saturday, June 15, 2024. Though the day is mainly for Form Four and Six candidates, other students are also welcome to attend and contribute to making the ceremony more colorful and memorable.
Earlier, there had been fears among certain students and staff regarding Parliament’s prohibition of prom parties. This followed the famous incident at Elite High School in Mukono, where one of the students arrived in a helicopter. However, the prohibition was mainly for private schools in the central region, whose students often tend to have more than enough money for such occasions.
The President Arrives
The Prom Party President, Muwanguzi Armstrong of Form Six, and his First Lady, Achwo Getrude Linda, also of Form Six, made their entrance with a group of cars accompanying them. This was a rarity for the school, as the last time one of the Prom Presidents arrived in a car was in 2020, when Mr. Waya Jamiru did so.
As soon as the President arrived, he led the group of Form Fours and Sixes to the red carpet. Clad in different stylish fashions of their preference, the young, smiling contingent moved towards the red carpet, with all attention on the President and his First Lady.
RASS Prom Party King and Queen 2024
In addition to the President and First Lady, a pair was chosen as the Prom King and Queen. The King, Kato Alex (VMX), and Amukaga Lydia, his Queen, are both in Senior Four. The King and Queen looked like a pair made in heaven. Their fashion sense and appearance needed no introduction or announcement. They deservedly sat on the throne that had earlier been vacant.
Later on, the Head Teacher, Maj. Zaina K. Nalukenge, made a speech to her beloved students, whom she regards as her children. She began by noting the very noticeable aspect—the spick-and-span, shining students looking like royals. She even mentioned that she is thinking of asking her girls to teach her how to be stylish like them, to which they laughed heartily.
RASS Prom Party Performances
There was no need to bring in outside musicians to perform at the function. RASS turned to its numerous young talented students to grace the stage and entertain the school. The likes of De Bender, Vapour Jay, Arrix Nation, Asake Mr., Da Vim Official, Bombo, Marwas Solomon and his Lingala team, and Faith the break dancer, among others, made the day full of the vibes the students had been looking forward to.
To crown the whole presentation, Tororo’s young talented and finest musician, Gift Risa, who has rubbed shoulders with Tororo’s biggest stars such as Young B44, came on stage. Gift Risa, of Form Six, unveiled a new song for the school in addition to performing his other individual songs.

Photo moments took enough time as everyone aimed to take a pic or two to capture the day for future reference.
