What Is RHOSA?
Rock High Old Students Association (RHOSA) is an organization that brings together all former students of Rock High School. Founded over two decades ago, its primary goal is to unite alumni to discuss and generate ideas to improve the school in various aspects.
Members and Leadership
RHOSA is governed by an Executive committee, with Okori Brian as the Chairperson. The other members of the Executive include:
- Vice Chairperson: Athieno Rose
- General Secretary: Owere Emmanuel
- Public Relations Officer: Mutembuli Bashir
- Committee member: Akumu Faith
- Committee member: Alboko Paul
- Representative to the Board of Governors (BOG): Osinde Henry.
- Treasurer – Okumu Chrispine
Each member’s roles and responsibilities within the Executive are clearly defined in the association’s Constitution. Membership includes all former students of Rock High, and it also welcomes other well-wishers as associate and honorary members.
The 2023 RHOSA Annual General Meeting
During the 2023 RHOSA get-together, hundreds of former students gathered for an Annual General Meeting (AGM) chaired by Okori Brian. The event was followed by a homecoming celebration. Notable attendees at the AGM included the Municipal Education Officer, the Chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the Chairperson of the Board of Governors of Rock High School, and the patron, who is the Headmistress of the school.
At the AGM, various issues were discussed, and key highlights included:
- Amendment of the RHOSA constitution.
- Implementation of a wall fence project around the school.
- Mobilization of members worldwide.
- Fundraising for RHOSA activities by the attending members.
Purpose of the Event
The event was primarily organized to bring together former students under the theme “Know Your Roots.” Additionally, it was a constitutional requirement for the Chairperson to call for an AGM every year to facilitate discussions on matters concerning the old students.

The main speakers at the event were the Chairperson Okori Brian, the patron (Headmistress), and the Municipal Education Officer. Their speeches emphasized the importance of collaboration among old students to give back to the school. Chairperson Okori Brian expressed the old students’ willingness to work with all stakeholders to revive the glory of Rock High.

Chairperson Okori Brian thanked all the members who attended the meeting and expressed his gratitude to the school management for leading the school in the right direction. He stressed the need to increase subscription levels among members to enable RHOSA to effectively carry out its activities. Okori Brian pledged his support for all RHOSA initiatives and acknowledged the generosity of an old student who awarded scholarships to some students during the meeting. He also thanked everyone who attended the dinner held at Silver Springs Bugolobi.
Status of Rock High School
The school is gradually experiencing a revival, with a significant increase in student enrollment and ongoing infrastructural renovations. Additionally, academic performance has shown improvement compared to the previous year.
Student and Staff Feedback
The students were thrilled by the visit of the old students and requested them to come back to the school to offer career guidance and share their experiences during their time at Rock High School. On the other hand, the staff members were deeply impressed with the current leadership of RHOSA for returning and expressed their desire for continued support from the association.
Way Forward
During the meeting, the students’ association members agreed to amend their constitution to make it more effective and formed a five-member working committee to address this task. Furthermore, the members pledged to support the school by contributing to the construction of a perimeter wall around the campus.
