We bring you the story of a successful African journalist who has pulled strings with different platforms on the internet until he hit the jackpot. This is the conversation I had with Mr Samuel Ngare on Thursday 14th December 2023.

Who is Samuel Ngare?
Samuel Ngare is widely known as Samtash, a dedicated Multimedia Journalist, YouTube Manager, and Communication Officer. His passion for uncovering the truth and making a positive impact through media has shaped his remarkable career. Samuel holds a Bachelor’s in Media Studies, Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs from Moi University. He also possesses a diverse skill set, making him an invaluable asset in the media industry. Reflecting on his childhood in Nakuru, Kenya, Samuel shares, “Growing up in Nakuru has shaped my perspective and instilled in me a strong sense of community and responsibility.” This upbringing laid the foundation for a career driven by a commitment to community engagement.
What groomed him into who he is?
His journey into multimedia journalism unfolded during his academic years at Moi University. Samuel remarks, “Exposure to various aspects of media and hands-on training ignited my passion for multimedia journalism. The ability to tell stories through different mediums resonated with me, leading to the realization of my love for videos.” But life is not without its challenges. Samuel Ngare opens up about one of his toughest moments, the passing of his father. He reflects, “This period tested my resilience and taught me valuable lessons, emphasizing the realization that we all belong to God.”

As a Multimedia Journalist, Samuel defines his role: “A Multimedia Journalist is an individual skilled in various forms of media, leveraging different platforms to deliver engaging and informative content. It’s about adapting to the evolving landscape of media consumption.”
Will Artificial Intelligence destroy journalism?
Commenting on the evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Samuel acknowledges its transformative impact, saying, “AI presents unprecedented opportunities for efficiency and innovation, but it also raises ethical considerations. As a multimedia journalist, I believe AI can enhance content creation, but it’s crucial to navigate its impact responsibly.”
What inspired Samuel Ngare?
When asked about his inspiration, Samuel shares, “Identifying that I’m here on earth for a purpose, serving the world with my gifts and always leaning on God’s love for us.” Motivated by the power of storytelling and its potential to drive positive change, Samuel is excited about his work and the constantly evolving media landscape. He adds, “I have also developed a strong passion for tech journalism. In our daily advancing world, it is inevitable not to keep tabs on tech.”
What are the biggest achievements Samuel Ngare has?
Samuel’s achievements speak volumes. With six years as a YouTube Content Producer, he manages channels that consistently produce high-quality video content. Celebrating a significant milestone, Samuel notes, “Recently, one of the channels I manage hit the 100k milestone and received the silver button from YouTube.” His foray into tech journalism includes producing stories about startups and tech inventions, such as those of Elon Musk and Sam Altman.
In his documentary work, Samuel Ngare showcases impactful stories. These include that of a Kenyan Agri-entrepreneur who invented seedlings for sweet potatoes, highlighting innovation and success.
