Who is Simple Bullet ?

Simple Bullet is a Ugandan Afro Beat, Dancehall, songwriter, and music producer who was born on March 18, 2000. His real name is Okoche John, whereas “Simple Bullet” is his stage name and his crew as “Icon Gang”. He also calls himself “Echom Baboon from Eastern Uganda” translated as “King Kong from Eastern Uganda.”

He was born to father Okoche Stephen and mother Malinga Christine in Atutur Village, Kumi District.

When did he start singing ?

Simple Bullet began singing in 2017 while in Senior Two (2). At that time, he couldn’t afford the studio expenses for recording, so he opted to sing part-time. Despite facing financial challenges, Simple’s talent shone through, leading him to sign with Frankia Music Group, which covered all his music expenses However, after the music group dissolved, he persisted in his singing career, facing the challenge of handling his bills independently.

Driven by passion, Simple Bullet managed to produce three hit songs and two music videos under his music label called ICON GANG. The songs, titled “Anna,” “Kizike,” and “Kill a Man,” which is an amapiano track, garnered significant attention. Subsequently, a Kampala-based manager, I.K Management, signed him, leading to the release of a song titled “Respect.” Although Simple Bullet initially intended to further progress with the manager, differences arose, prompting him to cancel the agreement. He swiftly secured another deal with Super Entertainment Africa, where he remains to this day

Who Inspired His Passion for Storytelling ?

Simple Bullet found inspiration in Genious Dre from Teso because he admired the urban artistry. Similarly, in Central Uganda, his influences include Fik Fameica, Bennie Gunter, and Teacher Apass.

Simple Bullet associates with various brands, including Icon Gang (his own brand), Samuelona Music Group, Frankia Music Group, I.K Management, Super Entertainment Africa, and Galaxy Investments. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous individuals, including manager Liz, Last Born Promoter, Icon Pro, and Arnold Tilley. Additionally, he has worked with talents such as Jordan Dances, Elisha Stephen, and manager Sam from Icon Gang, as well as manager Lawrence and manager Amo Uganda from Super Entertainment Africa, and representatives from Frankia music group and I.K Management.

Simple Bullet’s Achievements to Date

Simple Bullet highlights some of his achievements, including the fact that international TV and radio stations have played his music. He extends special thanks to NTV Uganda, NBS Television, UBC Television, SANYUKA TV. Simple Bullet add: radio stations like Capital FM, Time FM and many others that have supported his music career. Simple Bullet successfully did some collaborations with top Eastern artist like Vipa Teso Mada, Jose Demon, Ex back , Sparo UG and Ken Prich among others.

Simple Bullet considers it an achievement to have recorded songs with some of Uganda’s biggest producers, including Artin Pro, Bomba, T.O.N, and D’Mario. Additionally, he successfully organized a concert in Kireka, Kampala, which he views as another significant accomplishment in his career.

Simple Bullet openly and excitedly expressed, “Just expect good music because I am meant to deliver that,” further emphasizing, to be ready for an official concert this year”. His enthusiasm and commitment to delivering quality music are evident in his statement.

Icon Gang, also known as Simple Bullet, directed his message to the youth. He advised them to always pursue their dreams and, most importantly, prioritize putting God first in their endeavors. He emphasized the importance of perseverance and urged them to keep pushing forward, never giving up despite the challenges they may face.
