Ugandan musician Skylanta has broken his silence on the swirling rumours regarding his alleged breakup with comedian Anne Kansiime. In a candid Instagram video, Skylanta buried the speculation, urging fans and social media users to avoid jumping to conclusions.
“I came back online and I found a lot of fire. Found fire on the mountain, so I’ve been trying to get some jerry cans of water and cool some fire,” he said, addressing the growing chatter about his personal life. Watch the video of SKYLANTA talking below.
Are the Skylanta breakup rumours a public promotional stunt?
Social media has been abuzz with claims that the supposed breakup might be a promotional stunt for Skylanta’s latest song, Ex, and an upcoming live show by Kansiime. However, Skylanta quickly pushed back against the negativity, reminding the public that their relationship was never a matter of public approval.
“I want to remind you that when we were starting this, none of you was there. Somehow it ended up here, but none of you was there, and I am sure that between me and Anne, we know how to deal with what is happening,” he stated. “She’s happy and I’m happy. I don’t see why some of you are abusing me.”

The Comedy Grill edition of Anne Kansiime has been rescheduled and brought closer from 10th May to 9th May 2025. In January, Anne Kansiime – a celebrated Comedienne and Artist – was confirmed to headline the Talent Africa-organised Comedy Grill show which is also expected to feature other top comedians and artists.
Which is the new song he has released?
Despite the speculation, Skylanta also took a moment to highlight his latest release, Ex, which he described as a song reflecting common experiences in relationships.
“I put out a song. It’s called Ex. It’s on my YouTube. You can go and watch the visualizer. It’s already up,” he announced. “I was basically highlighting things that happen in relationships. And I’m sure most of you, if there’s an ex of yours who has done something like that to you—cheated on you, stolen from your house, given you an STD, or even eaten your friends—on both sides, male and female, there is something an ex has done. This song was not directed at anyone in particular. It was just a dedication to people who have broken up and are just trying to, you know, enjoy music.”
