Who is Solome Basuuta?
Solome Basuuta is a Ugandan musician, actor, performer, and lover of the arts. She was born into a family of academics, professors and creatives. Solome’s upbringing shaped her into the vibrant individual she is today. Her journey into the music industry began in 2015, marking the start of a path filled with challenges, growth, and unwavering passion.
Who are the parents of Solome Basuuta?
Solome grew up as the youngest of five in a home where both intellect and creativity thrived. Solome’s parents are Lydia Zawedde Mugambi and Prof Edward Mugambi. According to the musician, they instilled in her a love for both academia and the arts. With a mother who painted and sang and a father who was part of the Kampala Singers, Solome was immersed in a world where artistic expression was celebrated alongside scholarly pursuits.
How and when did she join the music industry?
Solome Basuuta started her career at Bank of Uganda after attaining a degree in computer science from Makerere University. Surprisingly, her heart was drawn to music. In 2015, she made the bold decision to transition into the music industry, following her passion despite uncertainties. Her parents, initially hesitant due to concerns about security, eventually became her biggest supporters, attending her shows and cheering her on.
Reflecting on her journey, Solome emphasizes the importance of perseverance and continuous learning in the music industry. She acknowledges that talent alone is not enough and stresses the significance of understanding the business side of music, developing a strong work ethic, and mastering marketing strategies.
What type of music does Solome Basuuta sing?
Solome’s music is deeply rooted in her personal experiences, particularly her faith and her belief in the power of love. Raised in a church environment, she draws inspiration from God’s unconditional love and seeks to convey messages of love and positivity through her music. What is Solome Live?
Solome Live is a monthly show organised by Solome Basuuta to sing original music for her fans. In 2024, the show will happen on May 1st 2024. Solome is known for her live shows, particularly “Solome Live,” a concert series where she showcases her original music and connects with her audience on a deeper level. These shows provide a platform for fans to experience her artistry firsthand and for Solome to share her stories and inspirations.
After occasionally getting confused with fellow artist Sandra Ssubi, Solome emphasizes that they are distinct individuals. “We actually are very good friends who support each other’s endeavors. I hope to collaborate with Sandra in the future to dispel any confusion and showcase their unique talents.
