Where and When Is the Imara Girls Festival?

The festival is set to take place at Kati Kati Grounds on Saturday, September 16th, 2023. This venue promises to be a dynamic hub of energy and inspiration. Women from diverse backgrounds will come together to strengthen women’s rights and initiatives.

RAHU, FOWODE, and the Imara Girls Festival

In the realm of youth empowerment and gender equality, organizations, like Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU) and Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE), have played pivotal roles in Uganda for years. Their unwavering commitment to fostering positive change in society has made a significant impact, and now, they are joining forces for a unique event—the Imara Girls Festival.

RAHU: Empowering Youth for a Decade

Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU) is not your typical organization to organize something as big as Imara Girls Festival. It’s youth-led and youth-serving, and its mission revolves around empowering young people in critical areas. For the past decade, RAHU has dedicated itself to youth empowerment programs. They had a focus on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), behavioral change communication, and livelihoods. Their work has led to tangible results, including engaging over 1755 peer educators. These have driven change in more than 150 schools and 255 communities across 51 districts.

FOWODE: Advocating for Gender Equality

On the other side of the spectrum stands the Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE). This non-governmental organization provides a platform for Ugandan women to learn, network, share experiences, and advocate for gender equality and equity in decision-making. Their tireless efforts have fueled progress toward a more inclusive and equitable society.

Imara Women’s Center: Advancing Women’s Rights with Imara Girls Festival

Imara Women’s Center, a FOWODE initiative, is a beacon of hope for the advancement of women’s rights. It serves as both a practical base for independent women’s organizing and a powerful force in the struggle for gender equality. Imara Women’s Center embodies the essence of change and progress, providing a safe space for women to mobilize and make their voices heard.
