When was the Miss Lango Mentorship Program Held?
The Miss Lango Mentorship program was held last weekend (13 April 2024). We addressed issues such as low self-esteem among young school-going students, especially girls. Traditionally, girls have been made to believe they are inferior to boys, struggling to take up leadership spaces in their society and schools.
Who organized The Miss Lango Mentorship Program 2024?
The event was organized by me, Miss Rita Alobo, the reigning Miss Heritage of Lango 2023-2024. Just for the record, this was made possible with the support of Miss Lango Beauty Pageant. Miss Lango is an esteemed cultural event celebrating the rich heritage and traditions of the Lango people, promoting the talent and grace of the region’s young people.
Who is Rita Alobo?
I am a 24-year-old self-motivated communication specialist. I possess an honors diploma in journalism and mass communication from Uganda Martyrs University. Also, just for the record, I come from Kwania district in northern Uganda.
What are the program objectives?
The The Miss Lango Mentorship Program aims to provide guidance, inspiration, and practical advice. This should help students navigate their educational journey and prepare for life beyond the classroom. This inaugural event received positive feedback and demand from schools in the region. For this reason, we intend to make it a termly program in different schools. Students will have the opportunity to engage with influential youth as mentors.
