As a champion of women in business, dfcu Bank’s collaboration with UWEAL underscored its long-standing legacy of empowering female entrepreneurs in Uganda. The Bank has supported Ugandan women entrepreneurs for the past 60 years through initiatives like the Women in Business (WiB) program, the Government of Uganda’s GROW Loan, and the Rising Woman competition.

With the GROW loan, Ruth purchased fertilizers to boost her crop yields and completed her rental units, which now generate rental income. This additional revenue stream has not only enabled Ruth to repay her loan but has also provided her family with financial stability. For Ruth, the GROW loan was more than just financial support—it was a catalyst for new opportunities and renewed confidence.

Gillian’s dream doesn’t stop with her farm supply store. She envisions expanding her business to become a leading supplier of agricultural products in Rubanda District. She also aims to start importing fertilizers and securing large tenders to supply farm inputs across Uganda.
