The Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) elected its new National Executive Committee on Thursday, 30th January 2025. The highly contested elections saw students from various institutions vie for different leadership positions.
The elections, held at Seeta High School, A Level Campus, Mukono, saw Wilson Mugazhu, the Guild Minister from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), elected as the 35th President of UNSA. Mugazhu secured a commanding 273 votes, defeating his closest opponent, Rugumayo K. Roy, who garnered 213 votes. Birungi Sharifa Nandudi finished third with 137 votes.

Daisy Adiru was elected as the 35th Vice President of UNSA. She currently serves as the Chairlady of Africa Hall in Makerere University’s 90th Guild House. She succeeds Ikyiriza Gold , the 34th UNSA Vice President and 89th GRC of Makerere School of Social Sciences.
Kasule John was elected as the General Secretary and shared his excitement on X (formerly Twitter):
“I am humbled to have been elected the 35th General Secretary of the Uganda National Students Association (@unsaugofficial) at the 35th council. I shall live to uphold the values and principles that define us as national students. Let’s now make our impactful mark together!”
Edonu Emmanuel, a student at Uganda Christian University and former 26th Guild Government Speaker, also joins the leadership team.
Grace Nuwahereza from Mountains of the Moon University– Fort Portal, was elected as the 35th Deputy Speaker. She expressed her gratitude on X:
“Ladies and gentlemen, we made it! Glory to God for His extraordinary love that holds us together even in times of doubt. To everyone who has supported me on this journey, may God truly bless you abundantly.”
