Northern Ugandan music has been underrated for the past 2 decades until Sedrick Otolo and a few colleagues created Mwonya Music App.
Who Is Marvin O?
Marvin O (real name Alele Marvin Stanley) is a young talented musician based in lira city northern Uganda. His music can be accessed via Mwonyaa streaming app. The passionate musician was born by parents Walter Okello & Betty Okello on 23rd May 2000. Culturally, Marvin grew up in a Langi family although he was born in Kampala at naguru hospital. He started writing songs at the age of 13years in 2013 and got full support from both parents.
What inspired his passion for music?
“My mum being head of choir in church,” says Marvin, “she passed on that talent to me. Therefore, clearly, it’s in our blood.” This made him believe in himself and grow his confidence to focus on his music passion. Fastfoward, he has turned this passion into a full-time career and it doesn’t look like he’s stopping soon.
Marvin is proud of always keeping it original instead of pretending to be someone he is not. He loves watching movies, writing music, and traveling. The biggest achievement in his life is his fanbase widening year after year and earning a few dollars out of his music career.

We asked him about how it feels to be famous and this is what he told us. “It feels good but there is difficulty in choosing friends as you won’t know who’s real n fake” Finally, he advises young people to never lose hope but rather keep going.
