Who is Ushmel
Ushmel is a Ugandan solo artist born on December 12, 1992, in Tororo, Uganda. His birth name is Ayubu Namwito. Being the third born in a family of three (3) boys and one (1) girl, Ushmel grew up in Eastern Uganda’s towns like Tororo, Mbale, Jinja, and Ntungamo, respectively. He later moved to other countries in East Africa like Kenya and Tanzania.

He is born to the late Abdullah Rahimani and Amina Huruli Innu, commonly known as Mamma Salima.
Ushmel’s Educational Journey
Ushmel is a well-educated solo artist. He attended primary school at St. Jude and St. Kizito, completing his primary education at Rock View School in Tororo. For his secondary education, he enrolled in Tororo Modern Secondary School, where he completed his A-Levels. Afterward, Ushmel pursued a degree in hairdressing and hair cutting styles at Ugandan College Of Commerce Tororo (UCC).
He is not only a talented solo artist but also a skilled lyrical writer and storyteller. Additionally, he has ventured into politics.
Ushmel’s Musical Quest
Ushmel initiated his musical journey at the age of 7 as a dancer, initially emulating the Congolese music styles that were popular at the time. He transitioned to breakdancing after being inspired by the moves of early 2000s artists like Michael Jackson, Usher, Jean Wayne, and Chris Brown. Later, Ayubu Namwito developed a passion for becoming an artist, drawing inspiration from musicians such as Enrique Iglesias, Shan Ward, Neyo, 50 Cent, The Game, and Lil Wayne. Despite his strong inclination toward R&B music, he remains versatile in his artistic pursuits.

A Journey of Achievement in Music
Ushmel has achieved fame in the Eastern part of Uganda, and his musical journey has taken him to various regions across the country. He has garnered success in places like Mbale, Jinja, Soroti, Bugiri, Tororo, Malaba, Mbarara, Ntungamo, and many others. Notably, Kampala, as the central hub of business and entertainment, holds a special place in his journey.

Ushmel got inspired by the fame he gained in his musical career, Ayubu also ventured into politics. He made an attempt to contest as a councillor in the Western Division of Tororo District. Looking ahead, Ayubu has ambitious plans to run for chairman in 2026, and he’s aligned with the NUP party, which is associated with the slogan “people power” led by Robert Kyagulanyi, commonly known as Bobi Wine.
